Trappin'

One of our wolverine traps. No luck yet but I'll keep you updated. On Friday we had tracks near one of the traps, so I think next week we'll get lucky. I've also been enjoying snowmobiling...hard day at the office. :)

Fall Tour

This past fall I boarded a jet plane to visit old Alaska friends that moved back "south". I spent some time with Charise in Everett, WA, and my old neighbor Josh near Mount Hood, OR, and ended the trip at Karen's (& friends) spread at Lost Valley, OR. During the middle of the trip I made a quick stop in Wisconsin to celebrate the life of my Grandma Brown. During that time I also got to hang out with Katelin and Nolan, who are getting very BIG...

Some pics: (unfortunately my camera was on the fritz while I was at Josh's family cabin near Mt. Hood...needless to say it was a beautiful spot, and I got to see the woods Josh played ninja in as a child, it explained a lot.)

Lily the super porch watcher and the salmon princess.

Lance, grilling up some super (surprisingly to me) delicious oysters. Who’s the oyster catcher now!

Karen's place outside of Dexter, OR. I met up with OE, Glenda and Huggy Bear. The girls checked out some hot springs nearby. And Karen showed us her stuff on the mandolin.

Volume I

So, I've decided to give this a try since I'm so good at staying in touch with friends and family :)
We'll see how it works.
That's me on one of my last trips "oystercatchering" with Barry Glacier in background.

A quick update:

October - Moose browse surveys in Placer Valley...rain wind and more rain...

November - Freezing cold, highs in the negatives and single digits, brr. I spent Thanksgiving with 30 plus friends in Girdwood, much fun. Knitting Knitting Knitting.

December - Snow, Snow and more snow... For only the 3rd time in my 31 years I did not spend Christmas with my family in Minnesota. While I missed them and the traditions we share, I had a wonderful evening in the village of Bird, with friends, crab legs, prime rib, and many delicious treats....I woke up Christmas morning to the music of James Brown.

January - Wolverines and snow machines...ah the life of wildlife biologist in Alaska. Just wish we'd catch one!! More pics on that project to come.
